Add, modify and delete aircraft (macOS)

Pilot Logbook presents a table of all aircraft that have been saved by selecting the Aircraft tab. Any changes to these aircraft will be reflected in every flight across your logbook.

Add a new aircraft

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Aircraft tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. With the Aircraft tab selected click the Add New button  in the toolbar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar enter the new aircraft details.
    • A registration must be entered, and a type selected to allow the aircraft to be saved.
    • To enter a new type that is not present in the dropdown list click the Add New button  from the menu next to the type field.
    • To modify a selected type click the Modify button  from the menu next to the type field.
  4. Click the Done button or select another aircraft from the table to save the new aircraft.

Modify an aircraft

Modifying an aircraft’s details will change the information across your logbook, all flights which are linked to this aircraft will reflect the modified values.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Aircraft tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the aircraft you want to modify from the table, and display the Detail  sidebar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar change the aircraft details.
    • The registration must not be blank and a type must be selected to allow the aircraft to be saved.
    • To enter a new type that is not present in the dropdown list click the Add New button  from the menu next to the field.
    • To modify a selected type click the Modify button  from the menu next to the field.
  4. Click the Done button or select another aircraft from the table to save the changes to the aircraft.

Modifying multiple aircraft

Multiple aircraft can be modified at the same time.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Aircraft tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the aircraft you want to modify from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent aircraft, and display the Detail  sidebar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar any fields that have different values will be indicated with a Multiple Values tag, a blank display in the Type dropdown menus, and a – in the Simulator checkbox. Unless you change these field values, all selected aircraft will keep their original values. Modify the aircraft’s details as required.
    • To enter a new type that is not present in the dropdown list click the Add New button  from the menu next to the field.
    • To modify a selected type click the Modify button  from the menu next to the field.
  4. Click the Done button or re-select aircraft from the table to save the changes. All selected aircraft will now adopt the entered details.

Merge aircraft

Two aircraft may be merged together. This may be useful if you have unwanted multiple entries of the same aircraft. Aircraft which are selected for merging will be combined into a new singular aircraft. All flights which were previously linked to the original two aircraft will now be linked to the new merged aircraft instead.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Aircraft tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select two aircraft from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent aircraft.
  3. Choose Edit > Merge Selection.
  4. Select the aircraft details that you wish to keep.
  5. Click the Merge button.

Delete an aircraft

Deleting an aircraft will permanently remove the aircraft from your logbook. The aircraft will be removed from all flights to which it is linked.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Aircraft tab in the sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the aircraft, or multiple aircraft, you want to delete from the table, and do one of the following:
    • Press the Delete key.
    • Click the Delete button  in the toolbar.
    • Choose Edit > Delete Selection.
    • Click the Delete button in the Detail  sidebar.
  3. Click the Delete confimation button.
