Add, modify and delete airports (macOS)
Pilot Logbook presents a table of all airports that have been saved by selecting the Airport tab. Any changes to these airports will be reflected in every flight across your logbook.
Add a new airport
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Airports tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - With the Airports tab selected click the Add New button
in the toolbar. - In the Detail
sidebar enter the new airport details. If you enter a common ICAO or IATA code, or a recognisable airport name, on change of field or on press of the keyboard return key, Pilot Logbook will search it’s inbuilt database of airports and autofill suggested airport details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
- You must enter either an IATA or an ICAO code at a minimum in order to save a new airport. Together these values must be unique.
- Latitude and longitude values are necessary for automatic calculation of night time. The entered latitude value must be between 90 and -90, the entered longitude value must be between 180 and -180.
- Click the Done button or select another airport from the table to save the new airport.
Modify an airport
Modifying an airport’s details will change the information across your logbook, all flights which are linked to this airport will reflect the modified values.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Airports tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the airport you want to modify from the table, and display the Detail
sidebar. - In the Detail
sidebar change the airport details. If you enter a common ICAO or IATA code, or a recognisable airport name, Pilot Logbook can search it’s inbuilt database of airports and autofill suggested airport details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
- When modifying and airport, to autofill from the ICAO field press the keyboard return key with the ICAO field selected. In order to autofill from the IATA or Name field the other fields must be blank.
- The ICAO and IATA code fields must not both be blank to save the modified airport. Together these values must be unique.
- Latitude and longitude values are necessary for automatic calculation of night time. The entered latitude value must be between 90 and -90, the entered longitude value must be between 180 and -180.
- Click the Done button or select another airport from the table to save the changes to the airport.
Modifying multiple airports
Multiple airports can be modified at the same time.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Airports tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the airports you want to modify from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent airports, and display the Detail
sidebar. - In the Detail
sidebar any fields that have different values will be indicated with a Multiple Values tag, or by a value of 0in the case of the latitude, longitude and altitude fields. Unless you change these field values, airports will keep their original values. Modify the airports’ details as required.
Autofill is not available when modifying multiple airports. - Click the Done button or re-select airports from the table to save the changes. All selected airports will now adopt the entered details.
Merge airports
Two airports may be merged together. This may be useful if you have unwanted multiple entries of the same airport. Airports which are selected for merging will be combined into a new singular airport. All flights which were previously linked to the original two airports will now be linked to the new merged airport instead.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Airport tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select two airports from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent airports.
- Choose Edit > Merge Selection.
- Select the airport details that you wish to keep.
- Click the Merge button.
Delete an airport
Deleting an airport will permanently remove the airport from your logbook. The airport will be removed from all flights to which it is linked.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Airports tab in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the airport, or multiple airports, you want to delete from the table, and do one of the following:
- Press the Delete key.
- Click the Delete button
in the toolbar. - Choose Edit > Delete Selection.
- Click the Delete button in the Detail
sidebar.
- Click the Delete confirmation button.
