Add, modify and delete flights (macOS)

Pilot Logbook presents a table of all flights that have been saved by selecting the Flights tab. Flights can be added manually, or can be imported from a csv file.

Add a new flight

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Flights tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. With the Flights tab selected click the Add New button  in the toolbar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar enter the new flight details following the guidance on adding flight details below.
  4. Click the Done button or select another flight from the table to save the new flight.

Adding flight details

  • You must have entered a Date value, entered times in the Departure(UTC) and Arrival(UTC) fields, selected an Aircraft and selected a pilot as Pilot 1 to save a flight.
  • A new aircraftpilot, or airport can be added by clicking the Add New button 
  • With the Flights tab selected click the Add New button  in the toolbar.
  •  from the menu next to the corresponding dropdown. To view or modify a selected aircraft, pilot or airport click the Modify button  from the menu next to the corresponding dropdown.
  • If the selected aircraft is a simulator then the Departure Airport and Arrival Airport fields are disabled.
  • Departure and Arrival times can be set up to a maximum of 23 hours and 59 minutes apart.
  • Select the pilot in command of the flight as Pilot 1, and any second pilot as Pilot 2. You can use the Swap button  to swap Pilot 1 and Pilot 2 from the menu next to the pilot dropdowns.
  • You can manually enter duration times or use the Autofill function to calculate these for you by selecting the Autofill checkbox. To learn more about automatic time calculations see the Automatic time calculations help page.
    The Autofill checkbox will be selected on by default if you have Automatically calculate times selected on in your Time Preferences.

Modify a flight

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Flights tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the flight you want to modify from the table, and display the Detail Modify sidebar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar change the flight details following the guidance above.
  4. Click the Done button or select another flight from the table to save the changes to the flight.

Modifying multiple flights

Multiple flights can be modified at the same time.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Flights tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the flights you want to modify from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent flights, and display the Detail  sidebar.
  3. In the Detail sidebar any fields that have different values will be indicated with a Multiple Values tag, a blank display in the dropdown menus, and a – in the Pilot Flying checkbox. Unless you change these field values, flights will keep their original values.
  4. Modify the flights’s details as required, following the guidance on adding flight details above.
    • The Date field is not available when modifying multiple flights.
    • The Autofill function and checkbox are not available to automatically calculate times when modifying multiple flights.
  5. Click the Done button or re-select flights from the table to save the changes. All selected flights will now adopt the entered details.

Delete a flight

Deleting a flight will permanently remove the flight from your logbook.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Flights tab in the sidebar.If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.Select the flight, or multiple flights, you want to delete from the table, and do one of the following:
    • Press the Delete key.Click the Delete button  in the toolbar.Choose Edit > Delete Selection.Click the Delete button in the Detail  sidebar.
    Click the Delete confirmation button.
