Add, modify and delete pilots (macOS)

Pilot Logbook presents a table of all pilots that have been saved by selecting the Pilot tab. Any changes to these pilots will be reflected in every flight across your logbook.

Add a new pilot

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Pilots tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. With the Pilots tab selected click the Add New button  in the toolbar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar enter the new pilot details. At least a first or last name must be entered to allow the pilot to be saved.
  4. Click the Done button or select another pilot from the table to save the new pilot.

Modify a pilot

Modifying a pilot’s details will change the information across your logbook, all flights which are linked to this pilot will reflect the modified values.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Pilots tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the pilot you want to modify from the table, and display the Detail  sidebar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar change the pilot details. The first or last name field must not both be blank to save the modified pilot.
  4. Click the Done button or select another pilot from the table to save the changes to the pilot.

Modifying multiple pilots

Multiple pilots can be modified at the same time.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Pilots tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the pilots you want to modify from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent pilots, and display the Detail  sidebar.
  3. In the Detail  sidebar any fields that have different values will be indicated with a Multiple Values tag. Unless you change this field, pilots will keep their original values. Modify the pilots’ details as required.
  4. Click the Done button or re-select pilots from the table to save the changes. All selected pilotd will now adopt the entered details.

Merge pilots

Two pilots may be merged together. This may be useful if you have unwanted multiple entries of the same pilot. Pilots which are selected for merging will be combined into a new singular pilot. All flights which were previously linked to the original two pilots will now be linked to the new merged pilot instead.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Pilots tab in the main sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select two pilots from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent pilots.
  3. Choose Edit > Merge Selection.
  4. Select the pilot details that you wish to keep. If you have selected yourself to be merged (i.e. ‘SELF’) then this is the value you must keep.
  5. Click the Merge button.

Delete a pilot

Deleting a pilot will permanently remove the pilot from your logbook. The pilot will be removed from all flights to which it is linked. You may not delete yourself (i.e. ‘SELF’).

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Pilots tab in the sidebar.
    If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
  2. Select the pilot, or multiple pilots, you want to delete from the table, and do one of the following:
    • Press the Delete key.
    • Click the Delete button in the toolbar.
    • Choose Edit > Delete Selection.
    • Click the Delete button in the Detail sidebar.
  3. Click the Delete confirmation button.
