Add, modify and delete types (iOS)

Pilot Logbook presents a table of all types that have been saved by selecting Types in the Settings tab in the bottom bar or from the navigation sidebar. Any changes to these types will be reflected in every flight across your logbook.

Add a new type

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your iPhone or iPad, select Types from the Settings tab in the bottom bar or from the navigation sidebar.
  2. Click the Add New button  in the top toolbar.
  3. Enter the new type details. If you enter a recognisable value in the Type field then on change of field or on press of the keyboard return button, Pilot Logbook will search it’s inbuilt database of aircraft types and autofill suggested type details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
    • You must enter a value in the Type field at a minimum to save a new aircraft type.
  4. Click the Done button to save the new type.
You can cancel adding the new type by clicking the Cancel button from the More menu in the top toolbar.

Modify a type

Modifying a type’s details will change the information across your logbook. All aircraft and flights which are linked to this type will reflect the modified values.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your iPhone or iPad, select Types from the Settings tab in the bottom bar or from the navigation sidebar to display a list of all currently saved types.
  2. Select the type you want to modify from the list.
  3. Change the type details. If you enter a recognisable value in the Type field then on press of the keyboard return key only, Pilot Logbook will search it’s inbuilt database of aircraft types and autofill suggested type details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
    • The Type field must not be blank to save the modified aircraft type.
  4. Click the Done button to save the changes to the type.
You can cancel any changes by clicking the Cancel button from the More menu in the top toolbar.

Merge types

Saved types may be merged together. This may be useful if you have unwanted multiple entries of the same type. Types which are selected for merging will be combined into a new singular type. All aircraft and flights which were previously linked to the original two types will now be linked to the new merged type instead.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your iPhone or iPad, select Types from the Settings tab in the bottom bar or from the navigation sidebar to display a list of all currently saved types.
  2. Enable selection of types by clicking the Select button from the More menu in the top toolbar or by using two finger drag gesture.
  3. Select the types that you want to merge and click the Merge button in the bottom toolbar.
  4. Select the type that you want to keep. If you have selected your default type  then the type you are keeping will become the new ‘DEFAULT’.
  5. Click the Merge button.

Delete types

Deleting a type will permanently remove the type from your logbook. The type will be removed from all aircraft and flights to which it is linked. You may not delete the ‘DEFAULT’ type.

  1. In the Pilot Logbook app on your iPhone or iPad, select Types from the Settings tab in the bottom bar or from the navigation sidebar.
  2. From the list of all currently saved types do one of the following:
    • Enable selection of types by clicking the Select button from the More menu in the top toolbar or by using two finger drag gesture. Select the types you want to delete and then click the Delete button in the bottom toolbar.
    • Click the type you want to delete and click the Delete button from the More menu in the top toolbar.
