Add, modify and delete types (macOS)
Pilot Logbook presents a table of all aircraft types that have been saved by selecting the Types tab. Any changes to these aircraft types will be reflected in every aircraft and flight across your logbook.
Add a new type
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Types tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - With the Types tab selected click the Add New button
in the toolbar. - In the Detail
sidebar enter the new aircraft type details. If you enter a recognisable value in the Type field then on change of field or on press of the keyboard return key, Pilot Logbook will search it’s inbuilt database of aircraft types and autofill suggested type details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
- You must enter a value in the Type field at a minimum to save a new aircraft type.
- Click the Done button or select another aircraft type from the table to save the new type.
Modify a type
Modifying an aircraft type’s details will change the information across your logbook, all aircraft and flights which are linked to this type will reflect the modified values.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Types tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the type you want to modify from the table, and display the Detail
sidebar. - In the Detail
sidebar change the type’s details. If you enter a recognisable value in the Type field then on press of the keyboard return key only, Pilot Logbook will search it’s inbuilt database of aircraft types and autofill suggested type details. You can overwrite any of these details as required.
- The Type field must not be blank to save the modified aircraft type.
- Click the Done button or select another aircraft type from the table to save the changes to the type.
Modifying multiple types
Multiple aircraft types can be modified at the same time.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Types tab in the main sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the types you want to modify from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent types, and display the Detail
sidebar. - In the Detail
sidebar any fields that have different values will be indicated with a Multiple Values tag, by a value of 0 in the Engine Count field, a blank display in the Class and Engine Type dropdown menus, and a – in the Multi-Pilot and Multi-Engine checkboxes. Unless you change these field values, types will keep their original values. Modify the types’ details as required.Autofill is not available when modifying multiple types. - Click the Done button or re-select types from the table to save the changes. All selected types will now adopt the entered details.
Merge types
Two aircraft types may be merged together. This may be useful if you have unwanted multiple entries of the same type. Types which are selected for merging will be combined into a new singular aircraft type. All aircraft and flights which were previously linked to the original types will now be linked to the new merged type instead.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Types tab in the sidebar.If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar.
- Select two types from the table by click and drag, shift-click, or command-click to select non-adjacent types.
- Choose Edit > Merge Selection.
- Select the type details that you wish to keep. If you have selected your default type to be merged (i.e. ‘DEFAULT’) then this is the value you must keep. You can select a different default type in General preferences.
- Click the Merge button.
Delete a type
Deleting an aircraft type will permanently remove the type from your logbook. The type will be removed from all aircraft and flights to which it is linked. You may not delete your current default type.
- In the Pilot Logbook app on your Mac, select the Types tab in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar: Choose View > Show Sidebar. - Select the type, or multiple types, you want to delete from the table, and do one of the following:
- Press the Delete key.
- Click the Delete button
in the toolbar. - Choose Edit > Delete Selection.
- Click the Delete button in the Detail
sidebar
- Click the Delete confirmation button
